We all know how important it is to protect our skin from the sun. But what if we told you that the very thing you're using to protect your skin might be doing more harm than good? It's true. Many popular skincare products contain an ingredient called SPF, or sun protection factor, that can actually be damaging to your skin. Here's a closer look at why we don't use SPF in our skincare products.
What is SPF?
SPF, or sun protection factor, is a measure of a sunscreen's ability to protect your skin from ultraviolet (UV) rays. The higher the SPF, the greater the protection. However, there's a downside to this increased protection.
You see, when you apply skincare product with an SPF rating, you're actually creating a barrier on your skin that prevents it from interacting with UV rays. While this might sound like a good thing, it's not. That's because our bodies need exposure to UV rays in order to produce vitamin D, which is essential for good health.
Additionally, when you block out all UV rays with sunscreen, you're also preventing your body from getting the benefits of natural sunlight, which can boost your mood and improve your overall sense of well-being.
Why We Don't Include SPF in Our Products
We believe that healthy skin is more important than perfect skin. That's why we don't include SPF in our skincare products. Instead, we focus on providing our customers with products that nourish and revitalize their skin from within.
Creams and lotions containing SPF contain actives that are designed to remain on the surface, acting as mirrors to reflect and block sun rays. As a result, an oily protective layer blocks the pores and does not let the skin breathe and function at a normal, healthy state. It is therefore not recommended to use typical SPF actives in creams or lotions for they reduce a product’s efficacy and damage the skin rather than really helping.
By constantly using SPF products we are slowly reducing our skin capacity to handle rays of light and enjoy the goodness packed within them. Just take a quick look at nature around us. We are part of that nature as well. Trust your body. Trust creation. Exposure to the sun is not that harmful as we have been told.
